Rye's main beach (bayside) offers safe sandy beaches, a jetty and a very pleasant foreshore with amenities. Rye transverses the narrow width of the Mornington Peninsula to the coastline fronting the ocean waters of Bass Strait and Rye Ocean Beach, located in the small coastal community of St Andrews Beach. The foreshore here forms part of the Mornington Peninsula National Park and offers scenic walking tracks, rocky outcrops, sand dunes covered in native vegetation and beautiful sandy beaches.

Rye is home to the fabulous Peninsula Hot Springs & Day Spa and The Dunes Golf Links. Other activities include scuba diving, horse riding, surfing and almost any water activitiy you wish to try. If you a surfer, Gunnamatta beach has one of the most consistent beach breaks in Australia, with challenging surf almost every day of the year. If adventure isn't your style, sit back in the beer garden of the Rye Hotel for a relaxing drink, or a great meal, check out one of the many cafe's and restaurants along the waterfront. If you are into birdwatching, head for the Tootgarook Wetlands, or simply tune out and relax on the beach.
